Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This policy explains how ContractBonding.ca("we", "our", or "us"), the operators of this website, collects, uses, shares, and protects information about Canadian contractors, trade partners, and website visitors. We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you choose to submit through our website forms, information about how you found us, and limited technical information about your visit:

Contact information: such as your name, company name, email address, and phone number.
Project and bonding details: such as the bond type you need, project value, tender details, and your business background.
Communications: messages and correspondence you send us.
Marketing preferences: whether you have opted in to receive marketing emails.
Lead source information: how you arrived at our site, such as campaign tags in the link you followed, the referring website, and the first page you visited.
Technical and usage data: such as IP address, browser and device type, and pages viewed, collected through third-party analytics and product-usage tools if you allow analytics cookies.

Details of what each form collects

Quote request form: company name, contact name, and email address (required); phone number; bond type (required); project value; tender or bid closing date and time; project province; project owner or obligee; bond amount required; tendering portal; years in business; credit score range; message; and your optional marketing-email choice.

Calculator estimate form: name and email address (required); phone number (optional); the bond type and estimated premium you calculated; and your optional marketing-email choice.

Both forms also record the time you submitted, that you were shown this Privacy Policy, and the lead source information described above. If you submit a quote request after using the calculator, we may link the two submissions so we can follow up once instead of twice.

3. Sensitive Information: Credit Score Range

Our quote form asks for an approximate personal or business credit score range. We treat this as sensitive information. Providing it is optional; you can choose "Prefer not to say" or leave it blank. We use it only to gauge bonding eligibility and to prepare a quote request, access to it is limited to the people handling your inquiry, and it is shared only as described in section 5 when you ask us to obtain a quote. We do not run a credit check based on this field.

4. How We Use Information

To respond to your inquiry, prepare preliminary estimates, and follow up about your bonding needs.
To obtain quotes from licensed insurance brokerages or surety companies when you request one.
To send marketing emails, but only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
To understand which pages and campaigns bring visitors to us, and to improve the website.
To protect the website and comply with legal obligations.

5. Sharing Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or business information. We share it only:

with licensed insurance brokerages or surety companies, when needed to obtain the quote or bond you asked about;
with service providers who host our website and database, send our email, and provide analytics, under contracts that limit their use of the information; and
where required by law.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use analytics cookies and similar technologies to measure site traffic and understand how visitors use our pages. These are only set if you accept analyticsin the cookie banner. If you decline, analytics tools are not loaded. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer.

We also store a small amount of information in your own browser that is needed for the site to work, such as your cookie choice, the lead source information described above (kept for up to 90 days), and a temporary reference that links a calculator estimate to a follow-up quote request (kept for up to 7 days). This information stays on your device until you submit a form.

7. Retention

We keep the information you submit indefinitely so we can serve returning customers and maintain accurate business records. We will delete your information on request, unless we are legally required to keep it. See section 9 for how to make a request.

8. Safeguards

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, and we limit access to the people who need it to handle your inquiry. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access.

9. Your Choices & Rights

Subject to legal requirements, you can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you access to it;
correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
delete your information; and
stop sending you marketing emails (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email).

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the privacy regulator in your province or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Privacy Breaches

If a breach of security safeguards involving your personal information creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and report it to the appropriate privacy regulator as required by law, and we will keep a record of the breach.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change to how we use your information, we will post the updated policy on this page before the change takes effect.
